Name: Duncan Barr
Position: Senior Geological Consultant.
Qualification: BSc (Hons) in Geophysics from Edinburgh University, 1979.
Fields of Expertise: Sedimentology, Sedimentary Petrography, Fracture and Bedding Analysis, Core and Log Petrophysical Evaluation.
Shortly after graduating, I joined Core Laboratories and spent most of the next four years working offshore Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Russian Far East. I moved to Core Lab's Singapore lab in 1984, working mainly in the core analysis lab, but also describing core for Sarawak Shell.
In 1985 I was officially recognized as a Sedimentologist and by mid-1987 was running Core Lab's Reservoir Geology department in Jakarta, Indonesia. A move to Malaysia in 1991 broadened the geographical spread of my operations to include the whole of SE Asia, as well as Japan, Australia, New Zealand and the USA. In 1997 I moved to Japan, but continued to work for Core Lab on a full-time basis, spending much of my time in Perth, Western Australia. I became an independent consultant on January 1st, 2000, but continued to do much of my work in association with Core Lab.
Sedigon Consultants LLC was formed in 2005. Recent work has taken me to the Middle East, North Africa, Australia and Malaysia.
